Women for Women International: Income Generation & Business Skills Manager – Rwanda
Women for Women International (WfWI) seeks to hire an Income Generation & Business Skills Manager, to be based in Kigali, Rwanda with travel to other locations as required.
Job Summary
The Income Generation Manager is responsible for providing oversight and income generation expertise that will enable economic self-sufficiency for Women for Women International program participants and graduates. This individual ensures that all aspects of the Country Income Generation Strategy metrics for employment/self employment income are managed and met. The Income Generation & Business Skills Manager is a member of the Country office Senior Management Team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Income Generation Management:
- Supervise all Income Generation activities with a focus on quality control and impact.
- Ensure program compliance in relation to Income Generation guidelines for implementation.
- Oversee vocational training and ensure that it is aligned with market-driven employment and self employment opportunities in country, vis-à-vis Income Generation strategic goals, and metrics.
- Oversee and manage vocational and business skills trainers; work with all trainers to help them create annual training plans with standardized curricula and training outcomes.
- Oversee the Commercial Integrated Farming Initiative (CIFI)
Business Development:
- Develop, manage, and oversee the Country’s Income Generation strategy operating plans in coordination with country office senior management.
- Identify, develop, and expand strategies and partnerships (private sector and technical assistance partners) to enable income generation for Women for Women International program participants and graduates.
- Identify, develop, and expand relationships with key market partners (market linkages) relevant to graduate products and services.
- Identify local capital lenders and potential investor resources.
Personnel Management:
Performance manage direct reports in line with WfWI’s performance management framework, including the setting of annual performance objectives, annual performance development plans, annual performance appraisal and regular 1:1 meetings regarding progress throughout the year.
Required Skills:
- Master’s Degree or other Post Graduate qualification in related discipline
- Minimum of 7 years work experience in relevant field, preferably within the International NGO sector or relevant experience in the private sector, of which at least 3 years at managerial level;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as a part of a team and to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff and participants.
- Ability to understand the needs of Women for Women International’s target clients and align programming accordingly;
- Demonstrable understanding and experience of gender issues and proven commitment to addressing gender inequalities in all key areas of responsibility;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Proven experience in training and facilitating;
- High level of fluency in spoken and written English and Kinyarwanda required.
- Excellent computer skills including working with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email. Database /data entry and analysis experience is required
- Must be a citizen of Rwanda or third country national with valid work permit
