The Rabi, Toucan and Koula fields are located approximately 50 kilometers north of the Gamba field where we produce some 65,000 barrels of oil per day.
Job Description
The Wells business delivers new Well Engineering projects as well as Well interventions to create value from incremental production across Shell assets. This position will provide Finance leadership at the sharp end of the Wells business and is integral part of the rig/business teams.

Key Challenges

The FM Wells is a key player in the Wells leadership team. The role requires an understanding and an ability to manage and support a variety of activities at different stages of assets lifecycle and various venture partners:

Responsibilities/ Accountabilities include:

Facilitate performance management via timely submission of management information and effective appraisal processes, ensuring focus on value delivery and highlighting financial impact of commercial and strategic sensitivities on Wells KPIs

Facilitate the business planning, target setting, and budgeting in Wells.

Provide support to the Global Well Delivery Process including review of Wells cost estimates ensuring that appropriate risks and opportunities are reflected in these estimates.

Provide financial input at decision gates and assurance plans, including country rig sequence meeting while ensuring the quality of Wells assumptions to enable objective ranking of opportunities and in ORS documents.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective business and risk control framework for Wells projects.

Support Wells managers in managing Projects &Technology and other employee and overheads costs.

Establish, monitor and report compliance, risk management and performance for the total Wells portfolio. Ensure a risk based Wells assurance plan is in place.

Commercial / supply chain management: Provide finance, risk and opportunity assessment and other input throughout the contracting process.

Support contract management by good understanding of contracts, whilst providing awareness on how the contractor earns money.

Work with plan and d budget to provide finance sign off of external reporting requirements.

Ensure full compliance with costs recovery guidelines; sound understanding of and compliance with Joint Venture/partner agreements.

Provide financial support in adequate change management and Wells Management standards.

Ensure that the Wells related local legal structures with implications on governance and financial framework are well managed.

Participate in and lead continuous improvement projects with focus on financial impact.
Collaborate with other parts of Finance, particularly upstream, Projects & Technology and Finance operations as well as Exploration, Projects Services, Well Engineers and contracting

Requirements Key experience and qualifications required

Academic education in Finance is preferred or related subject
Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA EMFC) or equivalent.
7 – 10years experience in Oil & Gas sector
Solid business finance understanding with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Financial acumen and strong business partnering focus including support and challenge to the Business/Function on value opportunities. Demonstrates the courage to influence the business by bringing analytics and insights to the table, speaking up about risks and creating focus on value.
Understanding of the impact of external trends and competition in Finance
Have previously held a leadership role is preferable.
Change management behaviours e.g. building relationships, influencing course of action, flexible thinking, yielding creative solutions, commercial mindset, self-starter, courageous.
Prior experience of leading risk and assurance management; CP exposure preferable.
