It is also an Intergovernmental association of African member countries
. Its membership comprises of 26 countries, covering West, Central, East and North African regions. Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Agronomist Research Assistant  -Agronomy
will be responsible for the following main functions:

Qualifications/Selection Criteria
Education:
At least a Master degree in agronomy
Work Experience
:
More than 1 year of relevant working
experience
in agronomic research or in similar field
.
Key Competencies Required
:
Proven computer literacy especially in the use of Microsoft Excel,
Word, Capacity to conduct independent work with a minimum supervision and the ability to
take initiatives
,
Good organization and management skills Good interpersonal and
communication skills (both oral and written) in both French and English
Language
The candidate should communicate fluently (orally and in writing) in English or French with a
good working knowledge of the other language.
1.
Contribute to development of research protocols;
2.
Setup field experimentations and surveys following the protocols agreed;
3.
Manage field experiments and collect reliable data related to weather, the soil, the
irrigation water and the crop;
4.
Process samples, measure them, and conserve them in suitable conditions for future use;
5.
Supervise casual laborers;
6.
Enter and manage experimental and survey data, perform standard statistical analyses, and
report on time;

This is a regionally recruited position.
o
AfricaRice provides an attractive salary and benefits package and a collegial and

The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility for renewal

The normal retirement age for regionally recruited staff at AfricaRice is 60
