Job Description:

• Selecting, developing, cataloguing and classifying library resources
• Answering readers’ enquiries
• Using library systems and specialist computer applications
• Liaising with departmental academic staff, external organisations and suppliers
• Ensuring that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users (eg staff and students)
• Managing budgets and resources and promoting the library’s resources to users
• Design information storage and retrieval systems, and develop procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying information.
• Explain use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services, and provide information about library policies
• Assemble and arrange display materials
• Confer with teachers, parents, and community organizations to develop, plan, and conduct programs in reading, viewing, and communication skills.
• Compile lists of overdue materials, and notify borrowers that their materials are overdue.
• Design information storage and retrieval systems, and develop procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying information.
• Develop and index databases that provide information for library users. Develop information access aids such as indexes and annotated bibliographies, web pages, electronic pathfinders, and on-line tutorials.
• Organize collections of books, publications, documents, audiovisual aids, and other reference materials for convenient access.
• To undertake, where appropriate, other roles, which may arise either in the department or in the wider school environment.
• Any other duties relating to the job as required from time to time by the Head of School /Principal.
