You will report to the Global SHEA and Safeguarding Lead and will be part of the Global SHEA and Safeguarding Team – working to create a feminist and survivor-centered approach to preventing to sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse.

As our Global Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA) Advisor you will help deliver our SHEA and Safeguarding strategy with a focus on preventing and protecting communities from sexual exploitation and abuse perpetrated by ActionAid’s staff and representatives, or harm resulting from our programmes.

This work will involve developing policies and procedures to prevent and respond to allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the ActionAid Federation to build capacity and create an approach to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse in all areas of our work. Your remit will also include overseeing cases and supporting investigations covering allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse of power.

To succeed you will have extensive experience working in an international context on PSEA, Sexual Harassment, GBV, Protection or Whistleblowing and have a strong commitment to feminist principles and analysis. You will preferably possess a Master or Bachelor degree in Sexual Violence prevention, Human Rights, Protection, International Development. You will have embedded Safeguarding or related practice into programmes and have experience of developing policies and risk management structures. You will also be used to handling complex investigations in a sensitive manner. You will have experience designing and delivering training, awareness raising and other capacity building activities for staff, partners, and other stakeholders. You will also be used to developing and operating monitoring and evaluating safeguarding mechanisms.
