Human Resources Advisor Ref/HR/CHAK/12/2009

Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK), a national network of protestant Church health facilities and programmes, seeks to recruit a HR Advisor to support and provide strategic HR advice to the Secretariat and its Member Health Units.

The incumbent will also be expected to provide technical leadership in the development of HR strategies and systems.

Key responsibilities
* Support and coordinate the HRM capacity and planning efforts of CHAK within the Secretariat and member health facilities.
* Provide technical assistance in formulating, implementing and reviewing HR policies and Standard Operating Procedures on recruitment, deployment and other HR areas
* Coordinate HRM staff training programs and capacity building in line with staff development plans and needs based on specific HR strategic objectives of the facilities
* Working from the national HRIS, support the implementation of a HR computerized system for the member health units
* Trouble shoot weaknesses in the HRM practice areas and work with member health units/hospital boards/Secretariat in providing solutions
* Conduct proactive HRM needs assessments with member health facilities and advise the Secretariat on the appropriate strategies and approaches
* Represent CHAK in sector-wide human resources for health initiatives and discussion forums
* Monitor and evaluate progress of the various human resource health initiatives and interventions
* Coordinate the adoption, harmonization and customization of HR policies, guidelines and tools across CHAK member health facilities
* Support the documentation of HRM best practices from the CHAK network and facilitate their dissemination
* Provide technical assistance in Human Resource to the CHAK Secretariat as may be required

Qualifications and experience
minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
* Post graduate training in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution
* At least 5 years experience in providing HR services in a busy environment
* Good working knowledge of the current Kenya Employment Law and practices
* Demonstrate experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and projects
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills
* Strong training and facilitation skills
* Sensitivity and commitment to Christian values
* Previous experience in HR management in the health sector will be an added advantage
