NIGERIA – NIGERIA STABILITY AND RECONCILIATION PROGRAMME VACANCIES

The Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP) is supported by DFID/UKAID and is managed by a consortium made up of British Council, International Alert and Social Development Direct. The programme seeks to deliver interventions to reduce the impacts of violent conflict and promote reconciliation processes. The focus will be on the national level and in eight focal states.

NSRP is looking for committed and experienced individuals to join the senior technical team of this innovative and exciting programme. Experience of working on programmes in conflict-affected environments, either in Nigeria or other countries, is imperative for all posts. All post holders will be based in Abuja but will make frequent visits to NSRP’s regional offices in Maiduguri, Kano, Jos and Port Harcourt and to all the focal states. The posts are:

  • Gender and Conflict Adviser
  • Peace Building Adviser
  • Media Manager
  • Output Manager: Security and Governance
  • Output Manager: Economics and Natural Resources

NIGERIA – PROGRAMME / MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER – MAIDUGURI / KANO / JOS / KADUNA

The British Council in Nigeria has been contracted by the UK’s Department for International Development to manage the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP). The British Council works in partnership with International Alert and with Social Development Direct.

The implementation phase of this five year programme has now started.
The British Council is now looking for suitably qualified individuals to complement the existing team and to fill the following posts

  • Programme Officer

The posts will be based in Maiduguri, Kano, Jos and Kaduna.
The duties of the posts are given below;

  • The successful implementation of specified projects and ensuring client, corporate and programme standards are fully met.
  • Ensuring specified project activities are accurately costed and budgets are managed effectively.
  • The monitoring and evaluating of specific project activities.
  • The mentoring and support of grantees.
  • The effective development and maintenance of security protocols in line with programme standards.
  • Timely and accurate support to financial and technical reporting.

The duties of the post are given below;

To support the provision of the NSRP services in relation to a clean, safe and efficient working environment and secure transportation of personnel and resources for NSRP in the project state and, periodically, out of the state.

NIGERIA – IELTS EXAMINERS

The British Council in Nigeria is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team of IELTS Examiners.

Outline:
Examiners conduct one to one interviews with IELTS candidates to assess their spoken English according to set requirements. Examiners also assess written scripts produced by candidates under exam conditions. Examiners are recruited on a casual basis and are expected to examine at least ten sessions a year at regular intervals. Remuneration is paid per interview/script. Weekend working is usually required. IELTS examinations regularly take place in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. Therefore, we are looking for examiners who live in, or within relatively easy reach of these cities. We may occasionally run examinations in other cities in Nigeria.

Requirements:
•An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree.

•A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) / or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.**

•At least 3 years full time (14 hours per week minimum or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL/TEFL teaching experience (minimum one year post certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).

Either, a Nigerian 1st degree, an NCE in ELT plus relevant teaching experience and IELTS 9.0. Or Nigerian B.Ed in English Language Teaching (transcripts verify course content), relevant teaching experience plus IELTS 9.0. A first degree plus a Nigerian PGDE or M.Ed/MA in TESOL or TEFL (transcripts verify course content), plus relevant teaching experience and IELTS 9.0. If shortlisted, you will need to submit a transcript of the teaching course you attended.
