Job title: Chief Executive Director (CED) for Ikeoha Foundation – Enugu Based Charity Organisation.
Responsible to: Chairman and the Board of Trustees
Purpose of job:
To develop the scale and reach of Ikeoha Foundation activities and specifically to:
- · Lead Ikeoha Foundation in the implementation and sustenance of its vision.
- · Create an effective organisation capable of delivering excellent, sustainable projects which contribute towards achieving the organisation’s key objectives;
- · Manage the staff of the organisation to enable them to maximise their personal contributions;
- · Ensure that the charity is well administered and meets its governance responsibilities;
- · Enhance the charity’s impact and profile both nationally and internationally.
Main tasks
Leading and managing the organisation
- · Develop and implement Plans with a view to achieving organisational strategies and objectives, including reviewing progress against the plan and setting appropriate targets;
- · Develop operating policies to ensure programmes and activities are implemented effectively;
- · Define the resources (human, material and financial) needed to operate effectively and play a leading role in securing the operational funds required for its activities. This entails developing relationships with institutional and statutory grant providers and high value supporters;
- · Identifying and matching funding requirements with funding opportunities and producing application forms, bids, tenders and appeal letters for statutory, trust and other funding bodies and individuals;
- · Work closely with Consultants where the need arises.
External Relations
- · Lead Ikeoha Foundation advocacy activities including maintaining and developing relationships with relevant Government departments in Nigeria and overseas;
- · Develop and maintain relations with partner agencies;
- · Develop and maintain relations with other relevant commercial or institutional bodies in the Sector of interest to the Foundation;
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The Foundation is willing to consider candidates from any background provided they can demonstrate both the relevance of their skills and experience, and a sense of urgency and commitment to respond to the needs of women and youths.
The person appointed should show:
- · An extensive knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that delivers services that targets women and/or youth or International Development sectors, preferably with an NGO focus;
- · Several years of experience in managing a similar organisation;
- · The ability to prepare and manage budgets; on-line research and collating information into informative/succinct reports, producing quality applications and tender documents;
- · Familiarity with charity law and governance issues;
- · Experience of grant writing programme development, applications to funders and management of grants;
- · Graduate with professional management qualification. Membership of a professional body and masters’ qualification will be an advantage.
- · Computer literacy in dealing with standard MS word and data processing, spreadsheet and communication packages.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Reports to: the Chair and Board of Trustees.
Remunerations: Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
Period of Employment:
Ikeoha Foundation will offer a two (2) year contract to the successful candidate which may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance
Probation Period
Six months with reviews at 3 and 6 months.
Hours of work
Five days or 35 hours per week undertaken in normal hours but the nature of the job will commonly require additional work and flexibility.
Travel
The post holder must be able to travel within and outside Nigeria.
Notice of Termination
The appointment may be terminated by either side with 3 months’ notice.
