Job Description

FINCA International, one of the world’s leading MFIs, provides financial services to  more than one million clients through 23 subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and the Greater Middle East.
FINCA is looking for a highly qualified Marketing Manager (MM) who thrives in dynamic environments to be part of the establishment and management of FINCA’s microfinance bank start-up in Owerri, Nigeria.  The Marketing Manager is responsible for development and oversight of the Marketing Department and the marketing function within the subsidiary. S/he is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of FINCA’s marketing strategy, in close collaboration with the Management Board, and the subsidiary’s marketing workgroup. The Marketing Manager’s activities are expected to result in improvements in awareness of and positive association with the  FINCA Brand among key market segments in Nigeria and improving FINCA’s outreach, in line with FINCA’s strategic objectives for the new subsidiary.  His/her main activities are:

Marketing Research and Strategy (30%),
Marketing Communications (25%),
Customer Relationship Management (20%),
Department / Institutional Development (20%)
Support in other areas (5%).

The MM will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FINCA’s operations in Nigeria and will also report to the Africa Regional Research and Marketing Specialist.

Job Requirements

University degree in marketing or other related field
3 – 5 years of experience achieving positive results in sales, including 2 – 3 years in marketing department (preferably within a financial institution or a private sector company).
At least one year of experience directly managing a team
Experience in market research (required)
Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Experience with design suites such as Adobe InDesign an advantage;
Knowledge of systems and tools, including statistical software, for collecting and analyzing market information is preferred
Fluency in English required.  Fluency in Igbo is an advantage.

Ability to translate business goals into a marketing strategy
Ability to provide decision-oriented analysis of market research data
Ability to compellingly communicate a message through a variety of mediums including written and verbal communication as well as visual presentation
Commitment to establishing a successful department and function over several years
Willingness to relocate to or within Nigeria and to travel within the country (up to 30% of time)
Strong fit to FINCA’s desired corporate culture & committed to furthering FINCA’s mission and vision;
Understands the needs of a start-up, with willingness and ability to perform duties beyond the scope of work;
Ability to manage multiple priorities, create effective systems and meet tangible business goals from an unstructured, dynamic and empowering environment;
Results-oriented, with the ability to drive projects from inception to execution stages
Highly attentive to detail with excellent organizational skills
Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships within a diverse organizational structure
