Job Description
Purpose of Role
To ensure the efficient supervision and control of HME Maintenance by allocating and managing resources (people and equipment) to attain production and engineering objectives and also ensure compliance of the Kinross corporate safety guidelines and the mines safety management system.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
•Ensure relevant safety, mining and other statutory codes and regulations remain in full compliance at the work place
•Plan and organize maintenance jobs safely and within a budget
•Execute the planned jobs according to priorities and the availability of equipment and in accordance with Kinross/CGML work management practices
•Actively participate in CGML Continuous Improvement program
•Supervise a team of HME Maintenance Technicians, Welders, Tire Technicians, Tools Storemen, Bit Sharpeners and Auto Electricians
•Train team members in all areas of major responsibilities to promote succession planning
•Perform periodical and scheduled inspection programs to maintain CGML HME assets and infrastructure according to established mine maintenance and engineering standards and keep them in a good condition.
•Know location of each team member at all times
•Provide leadership and coordination in the planning, implementation, and improvement of the maintenance management process
•Communicate information to crew regarding changes in policy, procedures and other announcements
•Assist in training new employees by providing instruction on procedures; familiarize new employees with operations and review work assignments in order to orient employee and optimize performance
•In case of accidents, perform survey, report accident as per existing policy, proceed for repair, and then issue a report-with photos whenever required
•Ensure that Contractors are performing according to contractual obligations with CGML
•Ensure smooth job handover to the next shift, with required documentation and JDE entries in place
•Open, review and close Work Orders in JDE, prepare Purchase Requisitions and estimates
•Report difficulties faced in a shift, deficiencies in staff performance and propose necessary suggestions to overcome them and improve staff skills
•Work with other maintenance software tools as required
•Perform other duties as reasonably assigned
Required Skills or Experience
•Degree/HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years’ experience in mining maintenance field.
•Demonstrate strong administrative, organisational, planning and technical writing skills and be able to plan jobs in coordination with colleagues and other Departments.
•Computer Literate – Microsoft Office Suite
•Ability to prepare estimates, tender document specifications for any mechanical works and analyze offers to recommend the best
•Ability to work in a team
•Good written and oral communication and report writing skills.
•Leadership/ Supervisory skills to fulfil the requirements of position
•Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Training
•Current Ghanaian driving license
