Google Accra-Ghana Recruits Access Operations/Services Lead

With the Google Access team, you’ll work on cross-product and cross-team initiatives, working closely with cross-functional team members to refine and evolve our projects, as well as deploy fiber-based and other technologies to markets and communities around the globe. You like being on-the-ground, executing complex projects that bring internet access to people.

You will design, implement, operate and improve upon processes built to scale. You will assist with the Google Access team’s efforts to bring broadband to the emerging markets, including sub-Saharan Africa. You’ll help direct activities on the ground, having experience in working with and managing network projects and building a sustainable business presence. You are an expert at managing the balance between progress and risk and have world-class project management skills.

Responsibilities
Lead all Operations and Maintenance processes and activities for a telecommunications network, including service assurance, customer management, and business growth management
Develop and maintain operational processes for effectively managing internal teams, Network Operations Centre and processes, vendors, and customers and for mitigating business, legal, operational, financial, technical and strategic risk
Manage vendor and customer relationships to ensure adherence to contracts and achievement and reporting of Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets
Identify, implement and maintain efficiency opportunities — especially automation — in day-to-day and long-term operations
Define, track, maintain and report key metrics of operational performance. Work collaboratively with local and remote management teams with all operational issues for a telecommunications network
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent practical experience.
Operations experience in the telecommunications industry or a similar industry.
Preferred qualifications
MBA or graduate degree in a management, technical or engineering field.
Ability to handle ambiguity, work collaboratively with internal and external partners, and quickly learn new processes and tools.
Current knowledge of wireless / wireline telecommunications technology and industry — particularly in emerging markets. This should include 3G/4G backhaul technologies and fiber optics networks.
Proven track record of achieving efficiency and scale in process design and implementation.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills with technical, contractual and financial issues. Excellent problem -structuring and -solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both frontline staff and senior management and external stakeholders.
