WaterAid Vacancy for Programme Funding Lead DFID

WaterAid is looking for a dynamic Programme Funding Lead who understands the UK Government Department for International Development (DFID) and can engage them to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene in the world’s poorest communities.

Working within the Programme Funding Unit the Programme Funding Lead with responsibility for DFID will

  • Lead the coordination of WaterAid’s organisation wide funding approach to DFID, being a central source of knowledge and an advice provider within WaterAid based on good intelligence about DFID’s policies; strategic and operational direction; and funding mechanisms and opportunities.
  • Guide WaterAid’s in-country engagement with DFID, working collaboratively with Country Programmes (CPs) and liaising with the Policy and Campaigns Department, and International Programmes Department, to ensure effective co-ordination and to develop a consistent and effective style of engagement between WaterAid and DFID.
  • Work with the International Programmes Department to coordinate our response to DFID global calls for proposals and other funding mechanisms to achieve ambitious funding targets.

To be successful, you’ll need to

  • Have experience of working with DFID and a good understanding of DFID’s priorities, procedures and strategic direction and have a track record of developing relationships and securing funds from them.
  • Have extensive experience of Institutional funding for International NGOs and of working with a wide range of institutional donors, both in-country and headquarters-based (including DFID), being responsible for contract management including quality of project proposals and narrative and financial reports.
  • Experience of developing and implementing programme funding strategies and donor engagement frameworks.
