Apply for Adam Smith International Professional Development Scheme

We provide the opportunity to postgraduates and career-changers to experience the real world of managing international development projects. For this, we offer a growing number of annual 24-month places on our Professional Development Scheme. You will have the opportunity to rotate in three out of four of the business lines; Business Services, Business Growth, Regional Operations and Technical Services.

Employees on the Professional Development Scheme are mentored and tasked with real challenges, including opportunities such as:

  • Technical and financial proposals;
  • Understanding local delivery contexts and political economies;
  • Working on corporate projects and business services;
  • Managing complex delivery tasks and project risks;
  • Writing business improvement plans for some part of the business.

The scheme also includes the opportunity of extensive travel to our overseas locations such as such as Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan and Sierra Leone during your last six months of the scheme.

Our projects require the highest quality people. Our staff are empowered to overcome challenges with a ‘can do’ attitude tempered with insight and pragmatism. Everyone who participates in our scheme is carefully selected. You should be able to build productive relationships with people from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds, to work effectively in politically sensitive and physically challenging environments and to work well within a team.

We have a strong commitment to our people and strive to live by our values. We’ve built a culture to reflect our principles, full of likeminded overachievers who are smart, passionate and great at what they do. We offer a highly competitive compensation package and excellent benefits.

If there are no current opportunities available on the Professional Development Scheme, then feel free to send an open application.

Adam Smith International’s (ASI) Central Recruitment team would like to thank all applicants who applied to the Professional Development Scheme.

The Christmas break and hiring manager’s schedules have hindered our ability to progress the recruitment process as initially anticipated for this position. In light of this, we have decided to delay the recruitment process until later this month.

Please keep an eye out on our website and on ASI’s LinkedIn page for the further updates on the Assessment Centre schedule.

We apologise for this delay and thank you in advance for your patience.

We appreciate your interest in our Company and we aim to contact successful candidates as soon as possible.
