One person in three in the world lives in poverty. Oxfam is determined to change that world by mobilizing the power of people against poverty.

The gap between the rich and poor is spiraling out of control. 82% of the wealth generated last year went to the richest 1% of the global population, while the 3.7 billion people who make up the poorest half of the world saw no increase in their wealth.

Around the world, Oxfam works to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. We save lives and help rebuild livelihoods when crisis strikes. And we campaign so that the voices of the poor influence the local and global decisions that affect them. In all we do, Oxfam works with partner organizations and alongside vulnerable women and men to end the injustices that cause poverty.

Such extreme economic inequality is standing in the way of ending global poverty, and widening other inequalities, especially the gap between women and men.

The role

Are you passionate about ending extreme inequality and thrive challenging power and patriarchy? Are you a dynamic leader who is creative, organized and inspires others to work towards a common vision? Do you have experience cultivating and managing high-profile relationships? Have you been part of public-facing campaigns that have achieved real impact for people? If so, you are the person we are looking for.

This role will provide strategic and operational leadership to Oxfam’s Inequality Campaign towards ending extreme inequality; and cultivate and grow Oxfam’s external relationships to achieve the same. We are looking for someone who will play significant role in achieving Oxfam’s campaign objectives through public-facing campaigning and alliance building, especially with women’s rights organization.

The successful applicant will have extensive and demonstrable experience in leading successful campaign and advocacy strategies at the global level, as well as extensive experience providing leadership and guidance in managing high profile external relationships and events. S/he will be a team player, who is comfortable working within dynamic and evolving campaigning contexts, with exceptional oral and written communication skills to facilitate dialogue and develop high-quality internal and external communication products.

Oxfam is an international confederation of 20 organizations networked together in more than 90 countries, as part of a global movement for change, to build a future free from the injustice of poverty. The Oxfam International Secretariat is currently headquartered in Nairobi, with offices in Oxford, Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, and a liaison office with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.

Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Spanish is desirable.
