BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. Our aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world through creative programming and media strengthening in 22 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East and North Africa. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response.
The Senior Projects Manager will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of a range of projects in North Africa. The Senior Projects Manager will ensure the agreed targets and objectives are met and will also ensure the quality and cohesion of project outputs. S/he is responsible for overseeing his or her staff’s delivery of existing projects, including resolving finance, legal and HR issues. The post-holder is directly responsible for the recruitment, induction, task management, performance management and professional development of the Project Management team.
The Senior Projects Manager is also responsible for overseeing business development in North Africa, ensuring that appropriate strategic opportunities are pursued and that proposals are well designed, realistically budgeted, creative, editorially compelling and in line with BBC Media Action methodologies and approaches.
Are you the right candidate?
- A strong technical understanding of the communications for development sector, including media development and communications for behaviour and social change.
- Considerable experience managing complex projects in the media or development sectors.
- Strong budgeting and financial management experience.
- Excellent track record of donor relationship building and managing of large donor contracts.
- Senior level experience in managing individual and team performance.
