About the role
Christian Aid is bidding to run a large markets programme in Ethiopia, working with refugee and host communities in three regions. The purpose of the role is to establish and manage the finance and operations functions in the implementation of this major contract. The postholder will be responsible for effective financial management including the preparation of financial plans and reports, supporting and building the financial capacity of staff and facilitating external, internal and donor audits. The role will also ensure excellent operational and contract management to enable strong delivery of the programme. This role will also include overseeing partner financial capacity, managing the compliance function, and overseeing the administrative function,.
The appointment will be for 39 months, conditional on Christian Aid securing the donor contract, and on donor approval of the appointee. The role is based in Addis Ababa.
The successful applicant will be a Qualified IFAC/ACCA accountant or equivalent, and will possess significant experience of leading a Finance function and experience of dealing with institutional donor fund accounting.
They should have experience of consolidating budgets and financial reports, using computerised financial reporting tools and managing audits. Excellent interpersonal skills will be required, and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations.
They will further demonstrate strong analytical skills and critical thinking, and an adaptive attitude.
