Christian Aid is a UK-based International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) that insists the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone has fullness of life; a life lived with dignity, free from poverty and need; and where the voice and agency of the poor and marginalised are fully realised. We have more than 70 years’ experience of working in partnership to address the root causes of poverty through integrated development and humanitarian programming, policy and advocacy work. We use our expertise to deliver innovative and sustainable results in 37 countries, providing urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes.
Christian Aid’s Humanitarian Division is made up of staff based around the world and supported by a team in the London office, made up of managers, technical advisors, and support staff. We work closely with Christian Aid offices who are currently responding to humanitarian crises in 20 countries. This includes responding to conflicts and violence in Nigeria, Myanmar and South Sudan; meeting the needs of refugees in Bangladesh; and reaching people affected by Cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.
About the role
We have a great opportunity for a volunteer to provide support to the Senior Humanitarian Adviser for Cash & Markets based in the London office. Tasks include analysing data on cash activities from various funding reports and identifying trends in the data, support the Adviser and Humanitarian support team to identify ways of measuring financial spend of cash programmes and updating the cash & markets intranet site. It will be a varied and fast-paced role with support from the whole team.
Ideally, we would like someone to spend 2 days a week with us for a minimum of 6 weeks, but this will also depend on your availability. You are interested in learning more about the work of an international NGO humanitarian team and are happy to work independently and as part of a team. You will have strong data analysis skills and preferably some administration experience as well, along with good organisation and time management.
