Join WaterAid as a Global Safeguarding Officer to change normal for millions of people so they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. On top of that you’ll be joining a 2018 Great Place to Work® award-winning organisation. 

As a Global Safeguarding Officer, you will help to ensure our high safeguarding standards are maintained across the WaterAid and actively respond to safeguarding queries and cases providing advice and guidance across the federation and country programmes. 

Full time (35hrs) permanent position, based in London, with international travel required and on call responsibilities.

In this role, you will provide safeguarding advice and guidance to federation and country programme staff in the form of case management as well as working to ensure safeguarding visibility across the federation and its associated activities.

You’ll also:

  • Plan and conduct safeguarding investigations as a trained investigator
  • Maintain case management systems and case files to a high standard
  • Assist in building capacity at a partner level, including training, creation of safeguarding resources, and assist with safer programming.
  • Continue to build and maintain the Safeguarding Focal Point global network.
  • Maintain, update and deliver safeguarding training packages.
  • Monitor compliance with global safeguarding and child protection standards in relation to core performance indicators.
  • Provide general safeguarding administration tasks and support to the Global Safeguarding Manager.

Person Specification

We are looking for a dynamic and confident individual who has significant safeguarding experience in either the national or international sector, who can work in fast paced, often complex situations. Experience of working with vulnerable groups would be an advantage.

To be successful, you’ll need:

  • Proven track record of working in a safeguarding environment with significant case management experience.
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area such as psychology, social care, crime and policing or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant experience in conducting safeguarding investigations and risk-based interviewing.
  • Knowledge of both UK and globally relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance.Be able to demonstrate core facilitation and training skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively and practically across multi-cultural teamsAbility to influence others and make risk-based judgements in complex situations.

Salary £36,000 – £38,000 with excellent benefits

WaterAid is currently located at Durham Street, Vauxhall. However, we will be leaving our current location in the summer of 2020 (likely to be June/July 2020) and moving to 20 Canada Square, Canary Wharf. Therefore the London Office location and contract base, if you are successfully offered the role, will change. This will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
