<p><strong>Position Title:       Administrative Assistant</strong></p>
<p>Duty Station:  Jalingo, Taraba State</p>
<p>Organizational Office:  WHO Representative&#8217;s Office, Nigeria</p>
<p>Duration:  1 Year, Fixed &#8211; Term</p>
<p><strong>Role Summary:</strong></p>
<p>To provide administrative and financial support to all WHO programmes and operations in his/her specific State of assignment.</p>
<p><strong>Resposibilities:<br />
</strong>Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer, the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties:</p>
<p><strong>Financial/Treasury Management:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Monitor and ensure that the requirements of the payment and reporting processes are being met in line with established time-lines as per the payment guidelines; Make required modifications and/or addenda to the payment guidelines when instructed to do so;</li>
<li>Prepare payment instructions and related correspondence for submission to the Bank for preparation of cheques and cash required for programme implementation;</li>
<li>Prepare information and related correspondence for submission to the Bank regarding changes to payment instructions that have previously been communicated to the Bank;</li>
<li>Review and reconciliation of cash book and bank statements.</li>
<li>Process the release of programme funds as per the approved budget; up-date and monitor purchase order balances, ensure all expenses are charged to correct purchase order and award; monitor receipts and disbursement of funds; monitor cash levels and initiates action for replenishment; prepare vouchers and financial reports; submit monthly imprest report in timely manner with accurate back-up documentation; provide feedback to programmes on utilization if funds and status of funding;</li>
<li>Manage the EPI NIDs Payment Mechanism in the State of assignment.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Administrative Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide administrative support for all Programmes in the State and for the day-to-day management of the office.</li>
<li>Handle administrative arrangement for meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences.</li>
<li>Liaise with hotels, airlines and travel agents on protocol issues involving travel of staff membersb and WHO consultants.</li>
<li>Ensure timely procurement of, and payment for, required goods and services; ensure maintenance of WHO goods and property; maintain up-dated inventory records of WHO property;</li>
<li>Advise WHO staff on administrative, program and protocol matters in accordance with WHO rules and procedures; monitor and follow up on leave, contract and other personnel matters.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualification:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Completion of Secondary education, preferably supplemented by a University degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline. Good knowledge of computerized accounting systems.</li>
<li>At least 5 years experience commensurate with the duties of the posts and its grade in an international, public or private organization of repute.</li>
<li>Good knowledge of Accounting and related disciplines. Must be computer literate and familiar with MS Windows applications for word and data processing.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different nationalities.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><br />
Desirable Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to acquire sound knowledge of WHO rules, regulations and procedures. Demonstrated abilities for team-work.</li>
<li>Experience in working with bilateral or` multilateral International Organizations in the country.</li>
<li>Knowledge of other WHO official Languages (French/Portuguese) will be an added advantage.</li>
</ul>

<p>Responsibilities<br />
The ideal candidate will lead on the development of an education strategy for the country programme, working with Save the Children member countries to identify priorities and opportunities; and also maintain an oversight on project implementation of existing and new programmes, to ensure that overall project outcomes are achieved.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong><br />
Masters degree in Education or equivalent with minimum of 5 years work experience. Experience in designing education proposals. Excellent understanding of education issues in Nigeria at both field and policy levels. Experience in working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels federal to LGA and community. This includes technical support capacity-building and coordination.</p>

<p>The British Council in Nigeria is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the post of &#8216;IELTS Officer&#8217;.</p>
<p><strong>Context:</strong><br />
Nigeria Exams is the largest British Council exams business in the Sub Saharan Africa region. It administers exams in four subject areas: Schools, Professional/Vocational, Educational on behalf of UK institutions and IELTS. In 2011-12 we delivered roughly 65,000 exams to 25,000 candidates. The team comprises 20 people and are based mainly in Lagos with two in Abuja and three in Port Harcourt.</p>
<p>The SSA region delivers exams in over 20 countries from its offices in 16 of these countries. In 2010, we delivered a quarter of a million exams to over 100k candidates. Growth in the region is robust, but our challenges are many. Nevertheless, Exams teams are making solid gains in our 4 strategic priority areas, namely: improving business performance, improving quality, improving financial compliance and increasing impact.</p>
<p>The post holder will be part of a team of 3 who administer the growing IELTS Exams business ensuring quality and compliance as well as control of income and expenditure to deliver on target. Delivery will be in Lagos with approximately two sittings per month. Support will also be required for the delivery of tests in Port Harcourt and other centres in Nigeria.</p>

<p><strong>Job aim:</strong><br />
To support Examination Services in Nigeria in delivering IELTS tests and to maintain them at the highest professional standards as set out in the British Council&#8217;s EQS (Examination Quality Standards) and by the IELTS Partners.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br />
<strong>Pre-test administration for IELTS examinations in Lagos.</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Overseeing the taking delivery of examinations materials and checking them prior to tests commencing, packing and returning scripts daily, maintaining logs appropriately.</li>
<li>Answering enquiries about IELTS tests</li>
<li>Preparing candidate registration forms</li>
<li>Exam registration procedures including receiving and collating registration forms for all Nigeria, entering and retrieving data on the registration system (IWAS/ESOLCOMMS), payments and tests correspondence including dispatch of results.</li>
<li>Assisting IELTS Administrator in venue staff management including recruitment, training and monitoring.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Test delivery<br />
</strong>Delivering IELTS on test days as part of the IELTS team which includes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Logistical arrangements</li>
<li>Supervision of venue staff</li>
<li>Ensuring adherence test day procedures</li>
<li>Venue management</li>

<p>The British Council in Nigeria is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team of IELTS Examiners.</p>
<p><strong>Outline:</strong><br />
Examiners conduct one to one interviews with IELTS candidates to assess their spoken English according to set requirements. Examiners also assess written scripts produced by candidates under exam conditions. Examiners are recruited on a casual basis and are expected to examine at least ten sessions a year at regular intervals. Remuneration is paid per interview/script. Weekend working is usually required. IELTS examinations regularly take place in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. Therefore, we are looking for examiners who live in, or within relatively easy reach of these cities. We may occasionally run examinations in other cities in Nigeria.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong><br />
•An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree.</p>
<p>•A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)  / or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.<strong>**</strong></p>
<p>•At least 3 years full time (14 hours per week minimum or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL/TEFL teaching experience (minimum one year post certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).</p>

<p><strong>Context:</strong><br />
This post is one of a number within the BC South Africa Examinations Team. The posts are split between BC Johannesburg and BC Cape Town. All posts require generic administration skills to run examinations activities. Postholders should expect to administer examinations activities in any of the five products: IELTS, Professional, Educational, Schools &amp; ESOL exams.</p>

<p>The <strong><em>Stop Violence Against Girls in School </em></strong>project is being implemented over five years (2008-2013) in Ghana with the main aim of reducing violence against girls and thus increasing access and attainment rates of girls in school. In partnership with national partner organizations, ActionAid is addressing Violence Against Girls in School (VAGS) through direct community intervention and embarking on intensive advocacy work to address the lack of government legislation around this issue.  Additionally, in collaboration with an international research institution, research is being carried out to address the lack of in-depth information on VAGS.  The research will also be used as a basis to expand this work to other countries.  The Stop Violence Against Girls in School project and the Project’s Manager position are funded by The Big Lottery Fund in the UK.</p>

<p>The British Council in Nigeria is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team of IELTS Examiners.</p>
<p><strong>Outline:</strong><br />
Examiners conduct one to one interviews with IELTS candidates to assess their spoken English according to set requirements. Examiners also assess written scripts produced by candidates under exam conditions. Examiners are recruited on a casual basis and are expected to examine at least ten sessions a year at regular intervals. Remuneration is paid per interview/script. Weekend working is usually required. IELTS examinations regularly take place in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. Therefore, we are looking for examiners who live in, or within relatively easy reach of these cities. We may occasionally run examinations in other cities in Nigeria.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong><br />
•An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree.</p>
<p>•A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)  / or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.<strong>**</strong></p>
<p>•At least 3 years full time (14 hours per week minimum or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL/TEFL teaching experience (minimum one year post certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).</p>

<p>The British Council in Nigeria is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team of IELTS Examiners.</p>
<p><strong>Outline:</strong><br />
Examiners conduct one to one interviews with IELTS candidates to assess their spoken English according to set requirements. Examiners also assess written scripts produced by candidates under exam conditions. Examiners are recruited on a casual basis and are expected to examine at least ten sessions a year at regular intervals. Remuneration is paid per interview/script. Weekend working is usually required. IELTS examinations regularly take place in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. Therefore, we are looking for examiners who live in, or within relatively easy reach of these cities. We may occasionally run examinations in other cities in Nigeria.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong><br />
•An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree.</p>
