The Company is looking for an experienced Project Manager Water treatment plant.
Job description
The scope of the job starts with raw water abstraction at the Intakes, through all stages of treatment, and ends with pumping the treated water into the various storage reservoirs.
The Project Manager leads a team of engineers and technicians and also has nominal management control of the Water Board Production Department personnel.
Responsibilities
Production scheduling and planning; site supervision of installations and maintenance works;
Establish controls and monitoring systems together with reporting on program and effectiveness;
Provide all assigned Plant personnel with on-the-job instruction in water production processes, and in accordance with budgetary limitations, provide off-the-job training in a range of industrial topics paying particular attention to Health & Safety matters, accident and fire prevention, emergency procedures, materials handling procedures and techniques including control of hazardous material.
In conjunction with the other engineers in the project, conduct equipment inspections and surveys to determine the operational condition of plant and equipment together with the preparation and follow-through of recommendations for remedial actions, repairs, replacements, etc.
Provision of 24-7 ‘call-out’ service and provide assistance and advice to Plant personnel for equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
Management of stores (including stores accounting) and stocks of consumables, tools, maintenance equipment and chemicals within the limitations of the Management Contract.
Scheduling of visits to all water installations covered by the Management Contract and in accordance with project needs, provision of visiting services to representatives of, for example, funding agencies, other water agencies, and other visitors from Group or elsewhere.
Qualifications et experience
Degree-qualified/Licensed Engineer with 10-15 years practical experience of project management and water utilities management at installations with production capacities
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (certificates) in water-related subjects, such as, hydraulics, water treatment or chemical engineering or distribution network engineering;
Fully conversant with Health & Safety at Work issues and working with hazardous equipment and materials;
Strong financial and budgetary skills – cost control, commercial objectives and commercially aware to project development opportunities;
Managerial, supervision and project competences – time management, negotiation, man-management, organisation and planning, training/instruction skills, and problem solving; ability to work alone without supervision;
Experienced in writing complex technical and other project-related reports
Previous work experience in Africa will be appreciated
