Job Description

Manage a team or Network Management Centre staff and supervise all day to day Operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly network performance reports
  • Ensure prompt response to customer complaints
  • Ensure prompt identification of problems in the network and rectify or advise responsible authority
  • Ensure proper monitoring of the network for overall efficiency and trouble spots using performance management tools and provide technical status reports to different target groups
  • Ensure proper escalation of network faults to the relevant departments
  • Initiate and implement ideas and give feedback on software tools, procedures and improvements to NMC functionality
  • Actively search for and implement improvements to operational procedures, policies and network management tools
  • Analyze overall network quality and availability, providing useful decision-supporting information to all levels of MTN Management
  • Responsible for calling out Support staff after hours, when necessary
  • Provide accurate reporting of vendor service levels
  • Submit reports on network failures and staff performance, when required
  • Establish and maintain well defined and effective communication channels among the NMC, internal and external customers
  • Produce annual budget for NMC
  • Create an environment which enables NMC personnel to effectively and promptly react to all network related faults
  • Co-ordinate the activities and output of direct reports
  • Ensure optimization of resources
  • Set directs report objectives and monitor performance based on set objectives
  • Identify training needs of the NMC team
  • Ensure budgetary control
  • Manage change requests and ensure implementation is according to planned specifications
  • Manage time, make decisions ad take responsibility for decisions taken in the NMC
  • Ensure that resources both material and human are available for all planned network expansions to take place as scheduled
  • Manage the network management center to achieve key performance targets

  • Microsoft office suite
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Mathematical and statistical problem solving abilities
  • A good Bachelors degree in Computer Science or
  • A degree in Electrical Electronics/Telecommunications or a related field
  • Seven (7) years hands-on experience in telecoms, tele-traffic environment, with at least two 92) years in a team leadership role and customer relations
  • Experience and comprehension of Telecommunications management network philosophy and practice
