Role Summary/Purpose

The VP, Project Development Finance will report to the MD, Africa Investments – SSA and will be responsible for project development financing and investment Initiatives across the SSA region.
She/he will focus on GE direct investments, develop regional processes for underwriting and manage post investment oversight.
Essential Responsibilities
Focus on long cycle GE direct investments – Project development and long term capital in infrastructure projects
Investment memo preparation, financial modeling, due diligence, underwriting and structuring
Lead or support deal team process with SPF, Project Development, P&Ls & internal function leads
Develop regional processes for underwriting and funding: develop template financial models, due diligence tools etc.
Post-investment oversight on select transactions (portfolio management, reporting, GE board participation) in coordination SPF Risk team
Help drive equity exit and syndication process on GE direct investments
Coordinate with external co-investors: private equity and infrastructure funds etc.
Develop and maintain reporting requirements and coordinate with project development team and finance functions.
Qualifications/Requirements
Project development, project financing, investment banking background.
Development Finance Institution experience is a plus
Demonstrated closed transactions
Deep financial modeling acumen (must).
Developed market experience
Emerging markets and Africa experience
Strong network with project finance, private equity, and financial services community in Africa and globally
Deep project finance skills required
Strong credit and underwriting skills required
Experience in developing and financing of complex multi-party infrastructure projects
Strong Project Management and integration skills

Desired Characteristics:

FMP/CAS/CLS graduate or comparable experience and/or training.
Prior Commercial Finance Experience.
Self-starter & proactive. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent skills to work cross functionally.
Flexible/adaptable – able to work with diverse group of people in a matrix environment
Strong oral and written communication skills.
