Job Description
The Corporate Finance Officer role is designed to be a mid-term management trainee position for Corporate Finance Manager (CFM).
Officers are expected to start developing managerial skills with limited supervisory functions and an expectation to maintain a level of analyst responsibility.
Responsibilities
Directly supports the CFM with planning, structuring and execution of engagements and transactions within Corporate Finance;
Serves as focal point on all CF analyses and financial models with guidance from CFM;
Assists the various divisions in the preparation, and periodic updates of budgets and forecasts, and in collating, and interpreting results for Group leadership purposes;
Conducts research, and where necessary, due diligence with regards to potential buyers/investors / takeover targets for potential M&A activities;
Monitors key financial performance indicators of various divisions based on approved forecasts;
Helps prepare detailed memoranda and presentations on the Company and its divisions;
Works closely with divisional finance teams to determine appropriate corporate and project financing options based on each division’s unique business profile;
Develops an implicit understanding of Oando’s 5 year business plan and strategy, helps drive analyses around the business plan and ensures that budgets submitted from divisions are consistent with overall group objectives;
Works closely with divisional finance teams to ensure that appropriate accounting methodology is applied in the budgeting process and monitors, reviews and validates the assumptions supporting business models / plans;
Attends monthly budget sessions with finance leadership ensuring validity of budget assumptions and that financial metrics and targets are consistent with Oando’s overall strategy / 5 year business plan;
Supervises, mentors (where relevant) and works closely with other Corporate Finance Department (CFD) members in all related activities of the CFD;
Participates in various marketing and recruiting activities of the Company;
Key Performance Indicators
Timely delivery of budgets and forecasts, and collating, and interpreting results for Group leadership purposes.

Person Specifications
Minimum of Bachelors degree
3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in the financial industry, preferably in energy finance or related corporate and investment banking roles;
Required Competencies
Analytical, quantitative and verbal skills;
Personable team player, with the ability to gain the confidence and trust of colleagues.
Strong grasp of Excel demonstrated by ability to build, monitor, review and update complex and consolidating financial models and analyses;
Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques, as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projections;
A good understanding of the energy sector, including business strategy and operations, processes and key drivers of profitability and ROI.
