Executive Producer Job Vacancy At BBC Media Action-Bangladesh

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response. In Bangladesh, our long-standing audience-driven debate programme provides people with the chance to question those in power, and our exciting television community challenge programme supports Bangladeshis to adapt to changes in climate. Our high quality television drama, public service announcements and radio programmes are helping to improve family health and sexual and reproductive health.

Role Responsibility

You will lead the production of the third series (13 episodes x 25 minutes) of our ground-breaking television drama, Ujan Ganger Naiya (Sailing Against the Tide), providing high quality family entertainment, while also educating audiences about maternal and child health. You’ll oversee the planning, production and delivery of the drama, ensuring it is delivered on time, on budget and to high BBC production and editorial standards. As well as managing key relationships with, suppliers, freelancers and sub-contractors, you’ll line manage the senior drama production staff, and work closely with staff across the Bangladesh Media Action team. You’ll be based in Dhaka but will travel and spend significant time on location outside Dhaka for the duration of the shoot.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll bring significant experience as an Senior Producer of drama, delivering high profile projects to the highest BBC quality, coupled with experience in location-based drama production. You will have strong practical working knowledge of production and post-production processes and technology. Your extensive experience making judgements on matters of editorial sensitivity will be valuable, as will your significant experience managing budgets, controlling costs and maximising value across all expenditure. Experience of working with and managing diverse teams of new and experienced production staff, developing their skills, will be essential for this post.
