Job Summary

Provide leadership and direction in the financial accounting function of the company and generally responsible for preparing budgets and the financial statement of the company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that company’s financial transactions are properly recorded, summarised and journal entries are passed to the General ledger.
Maintain records of transactions between Head Office and Business units and vice visa (current account).
Maintain records of loans and advances granted to staff.
Maintain adequate records of receipts and issue of consumable materials
Maintain an accurate cost ledger for Internal operations and fixed asset acquisition
Advise on Tax Policies and prepare taxation returns to the relevant tax authorities.
Maintain a general and operational ledger and to produce company’s management and financial statement from time to time
To produce monthly payroll of employees of the company for Management’s approval and payment
To produces salary schedules, variance report and salary journals for despatch to Bank
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports of variance analysis for management information and decision making.

Competency and Skill Requirements

In-depth knowledge of leading accounting practices in public and private organisations
In-depth understanding of the impact of changes/trends in accounting practises in public and private organisations
Knowledge of tax laws and changes/trends in tax practises and impact on Kaduna Electric Operations
Knowledge of business and management principles, resource allocation and coordination of people and materials
Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel Word and Power point.
High level of integrity and demonstrated ability to manage confidential information
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent organisation and management skills.
Strong leadership, supervisory and people management skills
High sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability

Experience and Minimum Requirements

First Degree/ Equivalent; Professional Qualification (ACA/ICAN)
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
A Master degree will be an added advantage
7-12 years’ experience in a related function with at least At least 2 years experience in a managerial/ supervisory role
