BBC Media Action Job Vacancy for An Auditor

BBC Media Action is the independent international charity of the BBC which uses media to advance development worldwide. Our mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives in developing and transitional countries through innovative use of media. We do this through our focus on health, governance, livelihoods, climate change and humanitarian response. We work in partnerships that include governments, broadcasters, civil society institutions, donor agencies and international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

Role Responsibility

As Auditor, you’ll review key central systems, providing recommendations and advice as written reports and face to face feedback.  Whilst you’ll mainly be based at Media Action headquarters in London (EC3N), you’ll also travel to country offices (approx. 6-8 trips per year) to conduct audits and reviews. You’ll act as an organisational expert on donor compliance, internal controls, and risk management and recommend improvements for Media Action’s key policies.

The Ideal Candidate

Experienced in audit and/or financial control, you’ll be a qualified accountant (or ‘qualified by experience’ in carrying out a comparable role). You’ll have excellent report writing, drafting and reviewing skills and have a concern for accuracy whilst keeping sight of the broader picture.  With the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, you’ll have good interpersonal skills and be able to build effective working relationships with financial and non-financial managers and staff.  Good judgement, with the willingness and ability to take the initiative in identifying problems and in suggesting and implementing solutions are also required.
