Overall Purpose of Job

The Audience Booker and Logistics Assistant will ensure the smooth running of debate programmes, helping coordinate training and production logistics and booking audiences.

The Audience Booker and Logistics Assistant, North Africa will be tasked directly by the Assistant Producer, Producer and Series Producer. Attention to detail is vital, as well as a can-do attitude. The post is based in Tunis, where BBC Media Action’s North Africa operations (for Libya, Algeria and Tunisia) are currently based.

As a key point of contact with studio audiences, they will help recruit audience members, coordinate audience travel (where necessary) and oversee audience hospitality (including meeting and greeting audiences and organising audience refreshments). In recruiting audience members, the audience booker will work with the production and project teams to ensure that there is the correct representation of different ages, genders and groups of people.

Main Duties

  • Support the project and production teams on logistics for debate programmes such as booking flights and transport and organising visas and accommodation for consultants, panellists and audience members
  • Act as the main point of contact between BBC Media Action and audience members
  • Coordinate recruitment of audience according to agreed guidelines
  • Organise audience transport where necessary
  • Organise audience hospitality, including welcoming and registering audiences and audience refreshments
  • Help organise audience surveys and audience research with the Research and Learning Team where necessary
  • Be on hand to assist production and project teams during productions

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of project coordination, ideally in the development field
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in either media or development (with experience in the other being desirable)
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to write well in English
  • English and Arabic fluency (French desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Readiness to work long hours, on weekends or on public holidays as reasonably required
