About the Role:

We are looking for a candidate with a high level of commitment to contribute to the delivery of CA’s program in Bangladesh with specific responsibility for the management of the inclusive market development strategy and social enterprise program. S/he will be responsible to coordinate, monitor and provide technical support to Christian Aid staff and partners to ensure quality program performance. S/he will lead the development and strengthening of Christian Aid’s work in Bangladesh on inclusive market development, social enterprise and private sector engagement. The position will facilitate program reviews, evaluations and internal and external networking; using learning to inform decision-making & effective documentation of key lessons. Represent Christian Aid with key institutional donors and provide technical leadership in program design and the development of fundraising proposals in the field of inclusive markets and social enterprise development would be one of the major tasks of that person. The role includes technical skills related to inclusive market access development strategies, market systems development, private sector engagement and networking, multi stakeholder engagement processes, development and promotion of social entrepreneurship / inclusive business models and/or may include of training of staff and partners.

About you

The person should have a university degree in a relevant discipline (MBA – business management development; agribusiness / rural economic development) with significant experience in market systems development work, particularly involving markets, value chain development, private sector engagement and / or social enterprise initiatives.

Essential:

  • Significant experience in market systems development work, particularly involving markets, value chain development, private sector engagement and / or social enterprise initiatives.
  • Knowledge of development issues, familiarity with and a supportive attitude towards processes of strengthening partners NGO and building their capacity for self-management, a solid understanding of market systems development, rural economic development, with focus on participatory processes, climate resilience and gender empowerment issues.
  • Experience of working with private sector actors and diverse stakeholders in a variety of markets.
  • Proven ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders to develop win win solutions.
  • Clear understanding about agri-market systems (input and outputs) and farm economy.
  • S/he must have good project planning skills, motivational skill, operation of multidimensional activities in the field
  • Ability to work in stress condition and achieve the target/results
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Smart, energetic, proactive, hardworking, self-motivated, Positive attitude, committed team player and dynamic
  • Willingness to frequent travel at remote areas.
  • Experience in developing activities to support the improvement of agricultural and other market systems in Bangladesh.
  • Familiarity with program cycle management approaches and tools.
  • Project funding and proposal writing.
  • Understanding of financial controls and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written Bangla and English.
