Description
Job Summary
Assist the Chief Engineer in providing technical support, domestic and industrial services to all areas of the MODU. Exercise effective control and efficient operation of the MODU power plant and machinery with attention to the safety of the crew, protection of the environment and safety of the MODU.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for safety of crew, environment and engine room as well as his/her own safety
Attend and tour and weekly safety meetings
Responsible for the watch in the Engine Control Room. Supervise other personnel on watch and to assure the proper power distribution on MODU
Responsible for bunkering, transferring fuel, water and other fluids safely and efficiently
Maintain the order, cleanliness and housekeeping at mechanical sites
Maintain the mechanical equipment when required by the Chief Engineer/Second Engineer
Assist the Chief Engineer/Second Engineer to ensure that all safety critical equipment onboard the MODU is maintained and tested to Ensco policies, standards and procedures, and Flag State Regulations
Identify opportunities to improve operational procedures and assist with procedure revisions and Risk assessments
Qualifications
Experience
Minimum of 3 years in a similar role in a business of similar size and complexity or graduation from a Maritime Academy
Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications
Bachelor’s degree from Maritime Academy preferred
Completion of all training and certification required by the Standards of Training for Certification of Watch Standers 1978 as amended for an Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch for Unlimited Horsepower vessels
Certification for Proficiency in Survival Craft is required
Minimum Requirements for this position
Competency in the following subjects: Watch Keeping, hazardous fluid transfer, safe engine room operations and equipment operation, Lifeboat Operations, MARPOL, ISM, Lifting and Rigging, Emergency Response including Fire-Pollution-Abandon situations
Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other emergencies. Maintain Medical Certification as required by International, Flag and Coastal State requirements including Drug Testing Requirements

Work effectively alone or as part of a team on projects
Exercise sound judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
Maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines.
Able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance
Available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as determined necessary to meet business needs
PC proficiency required – competency with Microsoft Office Software suite version 2007 or greater
