DEPARTMENT AND POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corporate Relations team is responsible for the partnerships Americares has with pharmaceutical companies and medical supply manufacturers in order to solicit gift-in-kind medical donations and funding in support of our international and domestic on-going medical assistance programs and emergency response work.
The position will support the Corporate Relations team in a multitude of ways, focused both on internal and externally-targeted coordination and process management. Assistance with preparation for donor meetings, conferences and our annual audit will form a core of the responsibilities, along with projects focused on helping to broaden specific donor relationships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily/Weekly/Monthly:
1. Assist in development of relationships with in-kind donor companies through:
1. In-kind gift processing, including valuation and confirmation of details
2. Report preparation for donors, drawing on Americares inventory system and input received from the field
3. Update Constituent Relationship Management system, using Salesforce or equivalent software
4. Assist with preparation of presentations
5. Assist with preparation and formatting of donor feedback pieces
2. Assist in preparation for fiscal year end annual audit through:
1. Checking and reconfirming gift receipt paperwork
2. Filing
3. Preparation of reports for auditors
4. Confirmation of product details in warehouse
3. Research related to:
1. Manufacturers of products requested by Americares partners
2. Analysis of donor trends, giving patterns and philanthropic priorities
3. Potential new donors attending healthcare industry conferences where Americares will have a presence
4. Systems development pertaining to DSCSA compliance and VAWD accreditation
4. Liaise with other Americares departments in areas including:
1. Global Programs in development of donor requests for specific products, and vetting of offered donations
2. Communications to assist with creation of collateral materials or press releases
Long Term Projects:
1. Contributing to the successful completion of the Americares annual audit
2. Compile and present research finding on new donor/donation opportunities
3. Active participation in the broader Intern Learning Series
4. Participate and contribute to the group intern project

SKILLS:
Preferred
1. Current undergraduate student (preferable junior or senior year) or graduate student or interested in international humanitarian assistance
2. Strong organization skills
3. Prior office/administrative experience preferred
4. Self-starter – ability to work independently and meet deadlines
5. Team orientation – balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals
6. Career interest in global health, international development, emergency response, and/or international affairs
Required
1. Excellent research and writing skills
2. Record of academic achievement and seriousness of purpose
3. Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook required
EXPERIENCE GAINED
1. Helping to obtain products which will directly address developing-country healthcare problems, particularly limitations on access to affordable medications
2. Assistance with relationship management with some leaders in corporate social responsibility
3. Alignment of philanthropic goals and priorities with corporations’ business and corporate social responsibility strategies
4. Management of healthcare-focused product donations, including gaining an understanding of various disease states, medication categories, and some of the risks and safeguards relating to international aid distribution.
