British Council Vacancy for Project Manager, Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth, Nairobi

Role Purpose
The Project Manager, Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth will support Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa, and the wider British Council team, to deliver a two year pilot programme focusing on cultural heritage in Kenya, with cultural relations activities and connections to the UK and East Africa. The Project Manager will work with cultural heritage partners in Kenya, East Africa and the UK to deliver projects which foster inclusion and social and economic growth for Kenya’s cultural heritage sector and its associated communities.

Main Accountabilities
Project Management
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to plan, forecast, monitor, comment, and evaluate the CHIG programme’s finances and general operations.
Oversee activity timeline for CHIG and ensure programme is on track.
Risk assess CHIG programme as and when needed.
Report and escalate any risk inherent in programme delivery.
Work with Head of Arts to be accountable for financial targets and risk management for CHIG Programme.
Contribute content, information and insight to the CHIG governance structures, e.g. board meetings, advisory and steering groups.
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to ensure the CHIG plan is implemented in line with UK strategy.
Be responsible for programme records management, including contracts, and archiving in line with corporate policy on data protection and information management.
Procurement
Support the Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa with the procurement and granting of goods, finances and services in line with established corporate policies and guidelines
Be responsible for creating and managing purchase orders for the CHIG programme
Ensure appropriate management of invoicing and payment of suppliers and vendors in a timely, compliant and efficient manner.
Partnership and Relationship Management
Oversee grant contract creation, and compliancy for the CHIG Programme
Support CHIG team with the management, communication and coordination of key stakeholder groups.   Communications
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa and to oversee and co-ordinate the creation and distribution of digital creative content for CHIG.
When required, support the CHIG programme to extend impact across our target audiences and to strengthen British Council as the key organisation for international collaboration between East Africa and UK.
Support communications teams from across the organisation to tell stories of the impact of the British Council’s Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth programme.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Be responsible for gathering qualitative and quantitative data in order to present them to the British Council’s internal and external evaluators in a timely and efficient way.
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to measure the impact of the CHIG programme using British Council Results and Evidence frameworks.
Equality, diversity and inclusion and Child Protection standards
Support the Arts Manager Kenya to ensure that programme delivery and activity reflect British Council EDI policy. Ensure that child protection policy and standards are followed and maintained for all relevant projects

Requirements
Must have rights to live and work in Kenya
Written and Spoken English and Swahili at Proficiency Level

Qualifications
Degree or HE qualification in relevant cultural, heritage, or humanities or project management field.
