ActionAid International, the global secretariat of a 45-country federation, is in search of an adaptable and versatile Communications Assistant to join its global communications department, in support of the organisation’s fight for women’s rights, social justice and an end to poverty. You’ll be joining an innovative and creative team at an exciting time as we begin implementing a new global communications strategy and raising ActionAid’s profile internationally.

The post-holder will be expected to provide tactical and administrative support to global, regional and country-based communications personnel across the organisation. Ours is a rewarding but fast-paced environment at the heart of a leading global NGO, and whilst you’ll have colleagues there to support you, you’ll need to be able to juggle and prioritise competing demands on your time.

This is a wide-ranging and exciting role, in which you might be tasked with the best way to present comms data and analytics to Country Directors in the morning, before helping to design a social media campaign aimed at people concerned by climate change in the afternoon. As such, you’ll need to be comfortable in your ability to turn raw and unstructured information into compelling stories that help those we’re communicating with make informed decisions.

In practice, this will mean:-

  • Managing data-gathering and analytics responsibilities for ActionAid’s global communications
  • Content and social media management via the global website and key social platforms
  • Working with external agencies and service providers to ensure clientside oversight of our digital properties
  • Ensuring stakeholder engagement for communications interests across the organisation

This is an unparalleled opportunity to make your mark in a fast-paced environment with a team that values experimentation and continuous improvement.

You must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to quickly develop effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group. Lastly, you’ll need to demonstrate a commitment to ActionAid International’s vision, mission, values and strategy on human rights and socioeconomic justice. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

If you have the skills, motivation and experience we need please send your CV and cover letter to us via email at[email protected] by 12 February 2020. In the subject line of your email please write ‘Comms Assistant – Your Name’. You are requested to highlight in the cover letter how specifically you meet the criteria for this role. If you do not meet all the essential criteria, please don’t apply as we only invite candidates for an interview if they meet all the essential criteria listed on the job description. In addition, your application will be stronger if you meet at least some of the desirable criteria.

Due to high volumes of applications received, should you not have received feedback on your application within two weeks of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful. We reserve the right to withdraw any of our vacancies at any time.
