UNICEF seeks a Health Consultant, Cold Chain and Logistics System Strengthening Countries Support (SSA) in West Arica.
Purpose of post:
The up-surge of polio in West and Central Africa and the increased focus on routine and systems strengthening for the delivery of high impact interventions has made a regional priority to strengthen cold chain and logistics (CCL) system capacity to deliver quantity and quality vaccines and other essential health commodities at country level.
UNICEF is seeking consultants who can work to build national capacities in CCL systems, and to ensure that countries are adequately prepared to deal with the current storage needs of polio and other antigen campaigns as well as routine needs taking into account last development on polio and new vaccines. It is expected to improve vaccine management to reduce wastage and increase coverage, maximize vaccine storage and vaccine distribution given the cost and impact of these vaccines.
The following countries are expected to conduct polio campaign in 2009 and 2010:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cent. Afr. Rep., Chad, Congo, Congo DR, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone and Togo

Your profile:
• Advanced University Degree in Supply chain management or other academic qualifications in areas such as transport, warehousing or logistics, operations/management.
• At least eight (8) years of practical experience in managing supply chain operations involving planning, organizing, implementing and advisory support.
• Relevant experience in cold chain and vaccines management.
• Specific cold chain/vaccines management experience required.
• Relevant experience in capacity building with specific proven experience in training.
• Fluency in English and French
