The BBC World Service Trust in Nigeria is seeking to recruit experienced individuals to join the Peace and Democratic Governance Program Team which is funded by USAID. The Project aims to address these
issues through media development activities which will be designed to boost the capacity of media partners in the six focal states to serve the public interest through greater editorial and financial independence and professionalism while adhering to international standards of news reporting and programme making, by producing more objective, impartial, accurate and balanced outputs. The Program will also create platforms where government officials and policies are explained and questioned either by or on behalf of the audience.

Job Vacancy: Project Manager (1 year renewable)

The Project Manager post is Abuja based but will involve travels to the focal states.

Duties

The Project Manager who must have managed a USAID project before will take the lead and provide direction in all tecnical and administrative functions in line with the execution and implementation policies and donor requirements. S/he will provide strategic operational advice to the Trust to help synthesize best practices towards successful delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a high quality program portfolio that will achieve planned results. Will also ensure that interventions respond creatively to emerging challenges among other things.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Working experience in the management and implementation of complex donor funded projects (preferably of USAID).

Possess strong oral, written communication, presentation skills and be proficient in the use of relevant information technology packages.

Thorough understanding of best practices in project implementation and media training, understanding of the Nigerian media industry and the use of communication to build long term development solutions.
