Since 1971, Family Health International (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research and intervention programs in the developing countries. In collaboration with national governments, local
communities and leading research institutions, FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/ AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health systems strengthening in partnership with the Government of Nigeria. To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position below:

Accountant: (Shared Service Department) Required (1)

Location: Country Office Abuja

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Accountant shall assume accounting responsibilities in the national office and ensure compliance with the contractual financial requirements of FHI.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Finance Manager in ensuring accurate keeping of all books of account for the project, including checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records
Works with the Finance Manager to lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports including financial status of sub-projects account activities with accompanying bank documentation and receipts
Assist the Finance Manager in monitoring subproject budgets in accordance with approved work plan activities
Provide support for accounting workflow in the review and audit of national office and sub-recipient reports for reimbursement of expenditures
Work with the Finance Manager to analyze, develop, and monitor accounting/fiscal control procedures and program budgets including monitoring cash flows and requesting for fund transfers from FHI headquarters
Prepare financial reports to  monitor and  track obligations and expenditures
Minimum Requirements

University degree in accounting, finance, business administration or its recognized equivalent
CPA, ACA, ACCA or recognized equivalent
3-5 years experience in accounting related to NGOs and community level programs, with increasing responsibility
Familiarity with USAID-funded programs and non -governmental organizations in Nigeria
