This appointment is vital to the success of our work in Ghana. Reporting to the Regional Director, and based in our office in Accra, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for our team and programmes in Ghana.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring all projects and programmes we support in Ghana are in line with Sightsavers’ strategy, policy and programme approaches, and meet organizational quality standards and best practice.

A strong team player and leader, you need to be able to demonstrate your ability to build and lead effective teams that maximise staff and team potential. At the same time you are able to engage proactively with policies and initiatives with teams and units across the organization.

You will be responsible for ensuring sound monitoring and evaluation practices, and work with the country team and all partners to build up an evidence base that demonstrates programme outcomes and impact.
An effective networker, you have the ability to increase Sightsavers’ profile and engagement with relevant development networks in the country. Your strong influencing and presentation skills equip you to be an effective advocate to government, key donors and other decision makers.

Managing a wide range of responsibilities, we require you to have strong individual planning and team management skills, and a track record of delivering and meeting deadlines. In a challenging economic climate, you will be responsible for ensuring the country programme is able to mobilize the necessary resources, and manages its finances in a cost effective and strategic manner.

You will be an experienced development professional, with an appropriate qualification and ideally educated to a masters level. Our programmes span the areas of health, education, community development and disability and social inclusion – and you will have significant experience in one or more of these areas, at managerial level. We positively welcome applications from people with disabilities.
