RWANDA – PROJECTS & FINANCE MANAGER
The British Council is looking for a suitably qualified individual to fill the post of a ‘Projects & Finance Manager‘ in Rwanda.
JOB AIM:
To manage specific projects within the country programme in support of the British Council’s overall purpose.
CORE DUTIES:
Project management:
To manage and implement selected projects within the country programme, as directed by senior colleagues.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT:
To manage operational expenditure against budgets for each project managed.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:Oversee / manage country daily financial tasks and provide general accounting and financial services in line with SAP requirements. Ensure budgets are in line with country plan and strategy.
PARTNERSHIPS:To maintain good relationships with project partners.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS:Ensure that effective marketing and communications strategies are in place and are implemented effectively for each project.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:To line-manage, where appropriate, one or more officers to support project delivery, ensuring that full range of performance management tasks are carried out for each line managee. Assume full responsibility for own professional development in consultation with line manager.
STAFF WELFARE:To support all administrative processes affecting the arrival, presence and exit of UK appointed staff to ensure they can carry out their duties effectively.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

RWANDA AND DRC – FINANCE OFFICER
The British Council is looking for a suitably qualified individual to fill the post of a ‘Finance Officer for Rwanda and DRC, based in Kigali, Rwanda.
JOB AIM:
To provide effective support to the Rwanda and DRC team in ensuring an efficient, secure & appropriately controlled administrative and financial environment and provide staff with the financial services & advice they need to ensure that the financial resources of are effectively managed and comply with corporate financial standards.
CORE DUTIES:
Financial Administration and Management
To deliver daily financial tasks and assist in providing general accounting and financial services in line with SAP requirements. Ensure effective administration of financial systems.
To control Cash/Cheque payments and to assist in ensure banking and treasury/statutory tasks are completed to satisfaction of Finance team
To assist the team in supporting the delivery of financial services by contributing to the development of finance policies, and ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Agree own personal development plan with Line Manager and review it twice a year
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

BOTSWANA – COUNTRY DIRECTOR
The British Council in Botswana is looking for a suitably qualified individual to fill the post of a ‘Country Director‘.
JOB AIM:
To represent the British Council in Botswana; to support delivery of  the Country Delivery Plan in line with corporate, regional  and country plan objectives; to lead the country team and  contribute to the effective leadership of the Sub-Saharan Africa region as a member of the regional Leadership Team.
DUTIES: 
To deliver large scale and local cultural relations projects in line with regional performance targets and country priorities
To plan and agree country strategy and financial plans in line with corporate and regional strategy with the Regional Director, Regional Operations Director, Regional Decision Support, Cluster Leader and other Regional managers
To maintain and promote good relationships and effective communication between the Council and Botswana/UK stakeholders (including British High Commission) in order to ensure effective delivery of existing projects and develop new opportunities
To manage Council facilities in the directorate to corporate standards (e.g. financial controls, health and safety, business continuity, security, customer care, EO&D, environmental requirements)
To lead country team and ensure effective HR management in country (including performance management, staff development, pay and employment relations, training)
GENERIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

JOB AIM:
To provide effective administrative support to the Peacekeeping English Project (PEP).
DUTIES: 
Providing transport services to staff and visitors
Keeping the PEP vehicle clean and safe
Collecting and deliver documents, cheques and bills
Working with the PEP Manager and Teacher Trainer on their home-related matters
Providing support to PEP and the ministry partners with loading and unloading of project materials and equipment
Keeping administrative records up-to-date

JOB AIM:

Provide effective support in ensuring the integrity of financial and other management information systems and contribute to Financial Control and Compliance Framework (FCCF).
DUTIES: 
To deliver daily financial tasks and assist in providing general accounting and financial services in line with SAP (FABS) requirements. Ensure effective administration of financial systems
To control Cash/Cheque payments and banking and treasury/statutory tasks
To assist the Finance team in supporting the delivery of financial services by contributing to the development of finance policies, and ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 
A first degree in accounting
At least 3 years relevant working experience in a busy, client focused organisation preferably a multi-national organisation
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 
Experience using SAP

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
Flexibility, Analytical thinking, Team working, Achievement , Customer Service Orientation, spoken and written English to IELTS level 6 and Amharic, IT skills – Excel and Databases.
