Communication/ Web Editor at BBC World Service Trust

The BBC World Service Trust in Nigeria, the BBC’s international development charity which tackle poverty and human rights through creative use of the media is seeking to recruit experienced
individuals who will join the BBCWST Team based in Abuja.  The individuals  will be expected to contribute to a Project funded by USAID which aims to address Good Governance Issues through media development activities which will be designed to boost the capacity of Media partners  in the six focal states to serve the public interest through greater editorial and financial independence and professionalism while adhering to international standards of news reporting and programme making, by producing more objective, impartial, accurate, balanced outputs. The Post to be filled is:

Communication/ Web Editor

The post is based Abuja

The Successful candidate will:

Use Information gathered from fieldwork to write up articles for the web, maintain and protect Information from destruction or hackers.

Design project graphics, prepare IEC materials, create and develop a social networking forum/function and optimized it for networking and training. Prepare annual plans for the project web site, identify goals, operational objectives, strategic approach, budget requirements, provide server statistics, site audits, cost-benefit analysis and user requirement surveys.

Experience

    * “Extensive experience developing and managing international websites and integrating social networking as part of a website
    * Advanced technical aptitude and knowledge of web technologies, website navigation and blueprinting, appreciation of browser compatibility issues, web content management and document management systems.

Qualification:

    * A minimum of first degree in Computer Sciences, Management Information Services or any related field
    * A professional certification is desirable.
