Swift Worldwide Resources is looking for a Dredging and Geomorphological Advisor to work on a 28×28 rotation in Angola, Africa.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Dredging and Geo-Engineering Advisor shall provide marine expertise and guidance for any marine activity concerned with channel maintenance and the stability of the local coastal environment, with the objective of securing safe access to and berthing within the port facility, and protecting the local natural, social and engineered environment of the costal system. The Advisor should also assist in the investigation and correction or mitigation of identified technical issues.

• Ensure that all Marine Terminal operations are carried out with due regard to the protection of the natural, social and engineered environment. In the event of any conflict between the demands of environmental protection and any other operational or commercial factors, subject only to the safety of life, environmental protection will always take priority. Ensure that environmental aspects of the Marine Terminal perform in accordance with safe operational and industry best practices and that all personnel observe all pertinent laws and regulations.

• Manage contactor services allocated to support the Marine Team needs, including inspection, QA/QC, cost control and HES. These services include: o Channel maintenance dredging o Third party verification surveys of dredging campaigns o Regular bathymetric surveys and volumetric calculations o Geomorphological and oceanographic data collection o Navigation buoy and oscillating sector lights inspection and maintenance

• Provide expert advice to the Marine Team, including o Liaison with external consultants on dredging planning, management of mitigation measures and maintenance of stable conditions in coastal processes in the vicinity of the Ponta do Padrao o Technical advice on the Marine Environment Management System o Any other pertinent marine engineering, construction or operational activities as delegated by the Marine Manager

• Develop as appropriate an in-house facility for undertaking all basic level equipment maintenance, field and laboratory measurements and office procedures to service long-term geomorphological and oceanographic support services for the operation of the port. Manage the on-site training of local staff.

• Advise Contracts Advisor and Marine Manager of any instruction, changes or other issues that are pertinent to the management of the Works. Liaise with all departments, specifically the Marine and Engineering Departments. • Ensure all activities are conducted to implement and adhere to the requirements of the HES Management System and those specific accountability documented and summarized in the HES Policy Manual. In particular: o Liaise with contractor personnel regarding HES issues. Ensure that contractor’s policies and procedures are in full compliance requirements o Assist with coordination of all emergency drills, including oil spill response activities and emergency exercises o Attend all relevant safety meetings

• Assist with audits, both internal and external.

Background Profile:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Oceanography

• Technically competent to understand complex (mechanical/electronic/computing) aspects of marine measuring and data management systems

• Worked with and possessing understanding of the processes of ocean and river dynamics, in particular sediment transport and tidal/river current interactions
