Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

Fully responsible for maintaining plant and equipment and providing engineering cover for the SCC Factory, to ensure safe, efficient and reliable performance of all plants and equipment as well as maintenance of buildings and structures. To initiate and manage programmes to reduce cost, minimise waste, improve efficiency and machine uptime, reliability, quality and safety.

Main Accountabilities

• Ensures that maintenance plans are achieved at the agreed budget costs and in a safe manner.
• Ensures the efficient and effective maintenance and repair of all plants, equipment and building.
• Co-operates with the Manufacturing Excellence Manager in the planning and execution of TPM, training and cost savings/efficiency programmes.
• Responsible for the implementation of the Company Safety Policy in the Engineering Department, Particularly with respect to policy awareness and Conformance.
• Ensures prudent and judicious management of the maintenance and repairs budget to ensure optimum benefit.
• Submits to the Plant Manager capital proposals for the Department.
• Carries out any special projects assigned him by the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager.
• Responsible for the management of his staff on such matters as safety, training, maintenance, recruitment and welfare.
• Compiles, maintains and ensures compliance with safe and efficient maintenance and engineering procedures.
• Liaises with Development Department/Asst. Production Managers for the modification of process plants and equipment in the management of innovation process for new products and processes.
• Initiates and manages waste minimisation programmes and reduce effluent loads on the environment.

Relevant Experience
• Minimum BSc. in Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in Engineering Management.
• Knowledge in Maintenance planning and execution
