Communications and Partnerships Officer Job At UNOPS

Functional Responsibilities:

The Communications and Partnerships Officer  reports to the Partnership Advisor, who provides general guidance and supervision. The primary role of Communications and Partnerships Officer (CPO)  is to develop and implement a communication strategy in line with the overall strategy of the hub and provide strategic support to building successful relationships with partners and clients in the region. Specifically, the CPO shall perform, inter alia, the following duties and responsibilities:

Communications & Media

  • Develop and implement a communication strategy for GHOH under the guidance of Partnership Advisor and Hub Director
  • Develop, review and update communication tools (website etc.)
  • Act as focal point for all communication related issues including the press
  • Organize media coverage and arrange for media contacts, briefings, interviews; issue press releases, organize seminars, public events, trainings, etc.
  • Support positioning UNOPS GHOH in relevant social media and web and regularly update relevant information
  • Assure that all communication is in line with UNOPS policies and strategies
  • Support the Partnership Advisor in all communication related issues and prepare any documents and presentations when required by Partnership Advisor or GHOH Director.

Business Development

  • Support the Partnership Advisor and GHOH Director in identifying and follow-up on opportunities for partnerships, with a focus on donors and private sector actors, and new service lines
  • Analyse markets and potential opportunities for UNOPS project development and partnerships
  • Support to develop an engagement strategy with potential partners in Ghana
  • Contribute to build and maintain relationships with UNOPS partners and clients (Governments, donors, private sector, etc.)
  • Develop high quality documents for clients such as capacity statements, concept notes, project briefs, fact sheets and broschures and ensure allignment with UNOPS policies
  • Research, collection and analysis of macro-economic development data to prepare business development strategies and forecasts.
  • Knowledge Management:
  • Participates in relevant Communities of Practice;
  • Actively interacts with Reporting Officers in GHOH to share case studies, lessons learned and best practices in the Knowledge System;
  • Activily interacts with Communication Unit in UNOPS to assure allignment of documents and visibility items to policies
  • build a GHOH internal data base to manage all relevant communication material including reports, photos etc.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Partnership Advisor, or the Director & Representative

Required Skills or Experience

 Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, PR, program/project development  or similar.

  • Experience in the private sector desired.
  • Prior experience within the development sector is an asset
  • Well conversed in data analysis, management reporting and project management tools and information management systems.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required

Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and networking skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • High level of computer literacy and demonstrable ability to work with communication tools, including Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent contacts with colleagues, senior government officials, donors and UN agencies;
  • Ability to deliver agreed outputs within agreed deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills;
