Company Secretary/Legal Adviser At Dogans Sugar Limited-Lagos

Dogan’s Sugar Ltd, one of the most profitable FMCG Companies in Nigeria has a vacancy for a legal position.
Reporting to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for that the company complies with all statutory standards and corporate governance.
Specifically, the candidate will:
  • Investigate compliance issues and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries or examinations
  • Partner with management with respect to strategic issues
  • Offer legal advice to management and staff to ensure the best legal approach is taken for business decisions
  • Handle conflicting legal matters that involve international, public and private law.
  • Organize, prepare agenda for, and take minutes of Board meetings and annual general meetings (AGMs)
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment, and taking appropriate action
  • Draft of all Contract Agreement/MOU’s, Letters, Offer Letters, etc
  • Preparation of all board resolutions as regards credit facilities offer, account opening, documentary letters of credit for CIF or FOB Contracts, facility acceptance and operation and other issues requiring company resolutions.
  • Make weekly report on achievement and constraint encountered in carrying out task.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • At least a 2.2 Grade; bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Must be a member of the NBA
  • Higher degree(s) or relevant professional qualification(s) will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience with at least two (2) years in a reputable manufacturing company will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to work in a team-based multi-cultural environment
  • Thorough knowledge of litigation practices and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize heavy workload, maintain confidentiality, and interact with all levels of management across the organization
  • Ability to understand general business operations, issues and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issues
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Word, Power Point and Excel)
