About the role

The Strategic Change Objective Tacking Violence and Building Peace (SCO TVBP) is the newest strategic area of work for Christian Aid.The TVBP Programme Officer will develop, lead and manage the Tackling violence and Building Peace (TVBP) programme in DRC. The DRC country programme focuses on the work of partners in the consolidation of a sustainable peace in the country. We aspires to ensure that the peace-building processes become an integral part of national politics; and seek long lasting peace through bringing in voices from local communities in DRC.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Programme Officer to play a key role to the peace building in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

You will be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid Tackling Violence and Building Peace programmes, projects and contribute to the representation of Christian Aid;

You will provide a support to the partners and manage TVBP projects reinforcing partners capacities;

You will contribute to develop, coach and motivate colleagues/project team members, provide management support and supervision to a number of technical staff;

You will have some experience of the programme management cycle including project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation ; understanding of partnership approach to emergency work and experience of working with local partners ; working under own initiative with a variety of different stakeholders ; facilitation of capacity building programmes

You will have a good understanding of the formal and professional requirements of institutional donor agencies and strong verbal and written communication skills with a strong proficiency in English and French;

You will have a University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent with a good knowledge of TVBP program, policies and requirements and conflict analysis methodologies;

You will have an understanding of financial controls and procedures with a familiarity to programme cycle management approaches and tools – including participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation;

You will demonstrate a significant experience in peacebuilding and a direct experience of programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of the development of partners’ capacity;

You will have a good knowledge of emergency relief, rehabilitation and development issues including solid knowledge of disaster risk reduction approacheds and humanitarian standards notably Red cross code of conduct, SPHERE and accountability principles, including HAP.

You will need to have, skills on facilitating trainings and workshops and being able to create networks and build alliances.

You will works within the International Programmes role family and the wider Programme Funding remit on TVBP. The role is key in providing support to Christian Aid partnerships and programmes to ensure they are managed effectively and funds are properly allocated.

You’ll have a solid knowledge and understanding of current practice and debates on violence, conflict and development; Gender based Violence and Sexual violence in conflict and protection of the civilian populations and experience in humanitarian intervention

You’ll have a proven experience and expertise in designing, implementing and monitoring capacity strengthening approaches for conflict and peace building & proven experience mentoring and strengthening technical skills of staff and local NGOs, managing donor funded project(s).

You’ll be a gender sensitive with a good understanding of the formal and professional requirements of institutional donor agencies and strong communication skills – verbally and in writing, with proficiency in English and French
