British Council in Nigeria Job Vacancy for SSA Finance Change – West Africa Cluster roles Lagos

The British Council is recruiting experienced finance professionals within the West Africa Cluster, based in Nigeria. These are key roles in the new organisational structure emerging from the Financial Transparency recommendations.

Summary descriptions of the roles are highlighted below:

Financial Controller – West Africa (PB7)
Qualified Accountant (ACCA or CFA) with at least 3 years’ experience post-qualification. The successful post-holder will contribute to the delivery of one global Finance team with accurate and effective financial information in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA); specifically in West Africa.

Purpose of job

The post-holder is expected to achieve substantial impact by supporting the provision of accounting integrity. This will be achieved through:

· Supporting the Regional Financial Controller with the end to end accounting process across the operation; including month and year end close

·Ensuring consistent, accurate and robust financial accounting processes in line with accounting practices and corporate policies.

 Risk and Compliance Lead – West Africa (PB7)
Degree holder in Accounting/ Auditing or Finance with at least 3 years’ experience post-qualification. The successful post-holder will support the delivery of one global Finance team by ensuring governance and enterprise risk management is achieved in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA); specifically in West Africa.

Purpose of job

The post-holder is expected to achieve substantial impact by ensuring governance and enterprise risk management is achieved. This will be realised through:

·          Monitoring of financial controls, using corporate frameworks as specified to monitor risk levels and take corrective action where this is required.

·          Acting as the first point of contact within the region for counter-fraud activity

·          Participating in leading regional investigations as needed drawing on the expertise of the Central Fraud team and acting on their advice.

The post holder is accountable for recommending appropriate action to the Regional Finance Director.

 

 

Financial Planning and Analysis Lead – West Africa (PB7)

Degree holder in Accounting/ Auditing or Finance with at least 2 years’ experience post-qualification. The successful post-holder will support the delivery of one global Finance team

by contributing to planning and business decisions in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA); specifically in West Africa.

 

Purpose of job

The post-holder is expected to achieve substantial impact by contributing to planning and business decisions. This will be realised through:

·          Supporting the Regional Head Financial Planning and Analysis in providing professional guidance in Financial Planning and Analysis.

·          supporting regional Business Development Managers and providing assurance on the underlying business financial performance

The post holder will be in charge of analysing and interpreting long – and short – term financial and operational plans through management reporting, analysis and interpretation of financial trends, impact assessment in conjunction with the Regional Finance Director in order to enable informed decisions.

 

Role requirements

 

The successful candidate in this role will be expected to have strong skills in communication, financial planning and management, recognized accounting qualification (ACCA/ CFA), experience of managing teams and at least 2/3 years’ experience post-qualification (depending on the role) amongst others. The candidate will be based in Nigeria and travel to other locations may be required from time to time.
