Ecowas Commission: International Expert in Certification(Hot Job)

The West Africa Quality Programme is a programme of the ECOWAS Commission, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO. UNIDO has in Abuja (Nigeria) a Regional Support Unit
(RSU) for the Programme. The RSU envisages the recruitment of one international expert in certification. This position is for the duration of one (1) year, with possible extension.

Within the Regional Support Unit (RSU) of the Programme, based in Abuja (Nigeria), the international expert in certification will be in charge of the coordination and the implementation of activities related to the set-up and/or strengthening of national and regional product certification systems as well as to the support to be given to pilot enterprises to achieve systems certification.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the project manager of UNIDO at the HQs in Vienna, the International expert in certification will be member of the Regional Support Unit (RSU) of Component 2 of the West Africa Quality Programme for the ECOWAS (non-UEMOA) countries and Mauritania. This team comprises four (4) members and is managed by a Chief Technical Advisor (CTA).

Under the supervision of the CTA, the International expert in certification will be responsible for efficient Programme execution in the area of certification by implementing good project management practices, and bringing his technical knowledge, namely in this area. Qualifications/Experience/Skills

    * Advanced university degree in Science, Engineering, Economics or equivalent.

    * At least 10 years experience in the practical implementation of a quality system (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000) within enterprises and of a national product certification system.

    * Good experience in organization and project management is an asset.

    * Experience in African countries, namely from West Africa, is an asset.

Languages

Fluent in French or English and working knowledge of the other language.
