SuNMaP-DFID: State Technical Malaria Officer, Kano
The Support to National Malaria Programme (SuNMaP) is a DFID-funded five year programme to support the National Malaria Control Programme. It currently operates in six states, namely; Anambra, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Niger and Ogun with headquarters in Abuja. This £50m programme is managed by a consortium of three international organizations: Malaria Consortium UK, Health Partners International and GRID Consulting Nigeria.
SuNMaP aims to strengthen the delivery of Nigeria’s National Malaria Control effort by providing technical support to improve the capacity of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) at all levels. In doing this, the programme is working with stakeholders in the public and non-public health sector as well as civil societies and partners from the commercial sector.
The programme has been in operation for three years and is now looking to fill position below in the programme:
Job Title: State Technical Malaria Officer, Kano
The job holder will reside in the Kano office of the programme. S/he will assist the Technical Malaria Manager (TMM) in providing technical support to State level Malaria Control efforts and direct implementation of projects for the control of malaria at the state, community and grass-root levels. S/he will support the TMM in engaging partners for malaria control, capacity building of health workers and coordinate LLINs distribution at the state levels.
Qualification:
A Medical degree as well as a post graduate qualification in Public health or a health related discipline with a minimum of 8 years prior experience in public health in Nigeria. S/he must have proven technical skills in malaria case management, prevention and control and a significant knowledge of the policies and practices of the Nigerian Ministries of Health. Other required skills include; training, presentation and writing skills. Prior work experience in a donor funding environment will be an added advantage
Terms of Employment:
The appointment is for a contract term of two years, with an initial six months probationary period. SuNt-1aP offers highly competitive salary packages. Local terms and conditions are applicable.
