Role Summary/Purpose The objective of the role will be to develop GE’s overall commercial offering of GE Businesses in Nigeria. The Commercial Development Manager will have a cross-functional role between GE’s businesses and will be developing GE’s go-to-market strategy, support sales activities and drive growth in country.
Essential Responsibilities • Identify new “white space” markets, quantify GE opportunities, identify key customer segments, create relevant value proposition and support sales activities.
• Craft “Go-to-Market” strategies to penetrate customers & markets to find the potential for growth with an emphasis on Infrastructure projects and GE product line synergy
• Facilitate implementation of strategy; achieve growth through Solutions Strategy: identify opportunities, generate leads, identify New Products & new Business models (Build, Buy, Partner or Invest).
• Act as Voice of the Customer for GE and Advocate in Chief for the Country to GE Businesses.
• Develop strategy to “cross sell”/ “up-sell” GE solutions into large scale infrastructure projects
• Develop detailed regional market analysis for each GE business and compile “fact-based” including Total & Available Customer Spend, Competitive Analysis and Regulatory Analysis targeted at increasing GE presence and share of wallet in the country.
• Foster strategic marketing activities including new sales channels within both the Public and Private Sectors.
• Evaluate alliances, partnerships, customer programs & variable channels. Steer GE through partnership implementation. .
• Learn existing GE offerings & develop a plan for the country in conjunction with global team
• Represent GE at relevant events and with key stakeholders
Qualifications/Requirements • Must be from the region with proven experience in the region at levels of commercial influence, preferably with technical background or background in Infrastructure Investments.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure development sector in Africa a significant plus and understanding of infrastructure requirements in the region highly beneficial
• Bachelor’s degree is required and MBA add advantage,
• 7 – 10 years work experience in a commercial role
• Commercial, customer facing, background in sales, marketing or business development. Consultancy experience can be decisive factor.
• Clear understanding and experience in structuring complex transactions in developing countries with an appreciation for the Regional complexities of doing business in Africa
• Excellent understanding of the regional economics with respect to regulatory impacts & subsidies and clear understanding and appreciation for the socio-political dimension in Nigeria.
• Must be computer literate with creative capabilities in making own high level presentation

Personal Skills
• Exceptional leadership skills, critical & creative thinker with high-level negotiation skills
• Ability to develop sales and transfer knowledge to the sales team in a matrix environment
• Passionate about GE and its future growth in the region
