Vacancy: Data Technical Officers at African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET)-Abuja

The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) seeks the services of 3 Data Technical Officers for the Nigerian Field
Epidemiology and Training Program (NFELTP) National Stop Transmission of Poliomyelitis (NSTOP) program.

Position: Data Technical Officer
Duty station: Abuja
Closing Date: 30 May 2014
Work Hours: Full time
The responsibilities of the Data Technical Officer include: 1. Developing and implementing integrated District health Management Information Systems (DHIS) for routine
data, semi- permanent data, and survey data.
2. Manage information, communications and technology ICT Solutions, materials and experiences developed by DHIS
Developers.
3. Conduct DHIS Training for health workers, LIOs, PHCCs, SIOs, Ministry of Health officials etc at LGA and national
levels. He/she will also develop DHIS training Programs. 4. Use communication and information technology to support health structures.
5. Data cleaning, sorting, pruning, storing and archiving and analysis of data.
6. Perform GIS Map analysis for GIS Projects.
7. Perform other tasks given to him by the Data Management Team Lead and Coordinator.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER EXPERTISE REQUIRED
1. First degree in health sciences, computer sciences, statistical analysis or public health.
2. Experience in assessing and/or supporting health information systems in Nigeria
3. Must have a holistic understanding of Health Information Systems Program
4. Experience in Programming Languages such as Python, C++, PHP, .Net and other related languages.
5. Experience in GIS Map analysis (ARC GIS, QGIS, Health Mapper)
6. Must also have previous experience working with DHIS.
7. Experience with STATA, Math Lab, SPSS, CSPRO, Epi Info, SAS.
8. Experience with Routine Immunization and Polio Programs or any public health related projects.
9. Advanced Academic/Professional qualification will be an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
 Proven knowledge of modern office procedures  Fluency in English Language
 Ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different nationalities
