British Airways, one of the world’s leading international airlines, is looking for commercially astute External Relations Manager with proven travel industry knowledge to assist the EVP China to build a strategic network of contacts within China to help develop British Airways and IAG’s business in China.

We are looking for a highly motivated delivery focused individual with proven experience within the travel industry in China and strong experience of developing relationships externally in China, preferably with government bodies.

This is an exciting and challenging role with an opportunity to work within a dedicated team.

This role will be based in Beijing.
About the day to day

To assist the EVP China in developing relationships with key stakeholders such as the Government, Ministry of Transport/CAAC, Airport Authority, Airlines, Corporates, Travel Agencies and the UK Government (UK Embassy, UKTI and Visit Britain)
To establish and managing a regular schedule of engagement / key meetings with organisations, individuals and external parties with responsibility to maintain and build those key relationships
To act in an advisory and interpreter capacity for the EVP China
Required to support commercial projects and initiatives to develop and drive business in China
Act as a team player working constructive and collaboratively across the organisation supporting the delivery of team goals and targets
Works closely with BA and IAG Head Office departments such as IAG Government Affairs, Network Planning, Alliances, IAG Cargo
Works closely with Regional Commercial Manager Greater China and The Philippines and China Sales & Marketing teams

The Individual

Excellent spoken and written English & Mandarin essential
Extensive knowledge of the travel industry
Strong knowledge of the Chinese market
Proven experience of developing relationships / networks externally in China , preferably with government bodies
Highly developed commercial awareness/business acumen
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Proven influencing and negotiation skills
Proven strong project management skills
Excellent decision making skills
Proven good stakeholder management
Ability to operate effectively across geographical and cultural boundaries
Pro-active approach. With high energy and resilience
Highly self motivated and driven, and ability to work independently
