BAT Africa Job for Area Procurement Manager

To support the Procurement team to manage the procurement of indirect goods and services. This is achieved by assisting with

data analysis, with the implementation of sourcing strategies that have been negotiated and by on-going supplier management

once contracts/ agreements have been implemented. Also to support the team to ensure efficient operation of the department by

managing purchase order documents and other procurement documentation in accordance with Records Management

schedules.

Essential requirements
Functional Knowledge Managerial & Interpersonal Skills

• Thorough knowledge of supply market, supplier capabilities and expected trends.

• Professional knowledge of procurement principals and processes, including order negotiations.

• Adept at developing procurement strategies and contributing to wider business strategies.

• Good knowledge of commercial awareness.

• Understanding of legal issues and contractual principles to effectively formulate contracts and Service Level Agreements.

• Proficient on the management of multi-functional teams and high level of project management skills.

• Detailed understanding of e-commerce tools (such as e-Procurement, e-Catalogue and e-Contract Management, e-

Auctioning and e-RFX, etc.) to enhance and sustain the Indirect Procurement processes.

• University degree award of studies in sciences and/or commercial subjects.

• Interpersonal skills.

• Proficient on supplier assessment processes that are used to develop supplier improvement plans.

• Good knowledge on project management skills.

• Understands total cost of ownership (TCO) models and uses this effectively during supplier negotiations and for planning

cost reduction programmes.

• Understanding of risk management and vulnerability assessment.

• Multi-functional Approach – Understanding of a wide range of commodities and the associated total cost drivers.

• Strong on analytical and problem solving skills.

Experience

• Min of 6-8 years of experience in Procurement
